¡Hola, San Diego! We're Back!

The Wilderness Orientation staff has just come back from our week-long kayaking expedition in Baja! After having a short retreat at the Shipwrecks Surf Camp, we arrived in Bahía de los Angeles on Monday August 15th and started our paddle around the many nooks and crannies of the area. Along the way, we saw whales huffing their way along the horizon, sea turtles bobbing up and down amongst the waves, bat rays flipping out of the water, and even a famed whale shark which swam right in front of our boats.

While we spent most of our time perfecting our leadership and teaching strategies, we enjoyed the 100 degree-plus heat by swimming, flipping over in our kayaks, and stretching out under shade tarps. We also made friends with a pelican and learned how to properly execute a rescue in a thunderstorm. We finished off our trip by sipping lemonade and dining on tasty Mexican cuisine at Guillermo's restaurant back on shore.

We all look forward now to a great WO season! May the days of prepping begin!
